Congrats to Dr. Oprah Winfrey, she received an Honorary Doctorate degree from the University of the Free State in South Africa on Friday, June 17, 2011. Oprah has done so much to help South Africa and she visits quite often considering the fact that she owns the Leadership Academy for Girls in Henley on Kilp.
The Chicago Times, reported that it was only five years ago when she made a visit to South Africa after a racist video was made. The video showed four white children laughing while black housekeeping staff ate stew that children had spiked with urine.
Oprah brought the incident to the public light
After receiving her award Oprah called the housekeepers on stage and said to them, "what has happened here at Free State in terms of racial reconciliation, of peace, of harmony, of one heart understanding and opening itself to another heart is nothing short of a miracle; it is truly what the new South Africa is all about."
Congrats Oprah, you continue to show the world that your work is never done. I love how education continues to come back around. EDUCATION..ONE OF HER MOST PROLIFIC TOPICS...I believe that Doctorates should be earned and I would like to add that she has indeed earned this title..Some critics do not believe that Winfrey should be called Doctor, but I strongly disagree.
