Pop star and reality t.v. star Jessica Simpson made an announcement yesterday that she's engaged to former NFL player Eric Johnson, just five months after the two began dating last May. And though she wouldn't go so far as to call Eric "the one" in a recent interview, her description of their relationship as "just normal" might have been the first hint of a lifelong commitment to come; after the harsh spotlight of "Newlyweds," high-profile heartbreak at the hands of Tony Romo and a relationship with the douchey John Mayer (who publicly described Jessica as "sexual napalm"—classy!), "normal" sounds kind of nice.

According to People Magazine, Jessica Simpson showed off her brand new ruby Neil Lane engagement ring at Dillard's department store in Kansas City on Saturday as she was promoting her clothing line.
