Wyclef Jean's Bid for Presidency Shut Down

                Grammy award winning, Hip Hop star and Haitian born, Wyclef Jean announced his bid for presidency,  but was rejected due to residency. A candidate running for president in Haiti must have lived in the country for five consecutive years as a requirement to run for president. Many of his Haitian supporters rallied outside for two days in support of  Jean just before it was announced that he would not be eligible to run for the presidency seat. Now many from young adult to old are voicing that they will not be voting in the November election since Jean was not included on the ballot. It was a problem that had many hopefuls in excitement, as they crossed there fingers hoped to God that he would be allowed to run.

           CNN was the first media outlet to run the story that he had not been chosen as one of the 19 prospects for Haitian president. Jean did not stop hoping there, the official results had not been released, so he held on to faith as he prayed that he too would be on the ballot for the 2010 Haitian presidential election. The decision was heartbreaking to many because they felt that Jean could turn the country around and had the resources to do so. For instance, jobs, education, and the improvement of life in Haiti were coming to past, but all to soon it came to a sudden halt check out the video as the Associated Press provides answers to the lingering questions: WHY?





              I had my fingers crossed. I think Jean would have been a great presidential candidate because he has genuine love for his people, as well, as his country. So,I just wanted to congratulate him on his efforts and don't stop there. Time is everything although you may not see it today maybe one day your dream will come true; considering that he has not given up on his candidacy. According to the Associated Press, Jean is not "abandoning his run for candidacy." Jean told the AP, "that he will send a lawyer on Monday to Haitian court to appeal a decision rejecting his candidacy.
