HAPPY BIRTHDAY DR. MARTIN LUTHER KING, JR.

Today is the day that we give homage to the late Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Without him I and every other African American would not be where they are today. How significant was his legacy? Have you ever really understood or have you ever taken the time to take a look around? When you take a look around tell me, what do you see? You see America as the land of dreams and the home of the free and the brave, but without this individual we would not be here. However, some five decades after the death of the great Dr. Martin Luther King, the economic gap has widened; urban schools still have a fifty percent drop out rate; there are more African American Males in jail vs a secondary institution. In other words, we have a crisis in Black leadership. Where are the Martins and Malcolms. Martin could not be bought. Our Black leaders today are selfish and like to line their own pockets. We have lost our prophetisism. This material and imperialistic society has weakened the cause.

Solution: Must focus on education. Education is the main avenue out of what some may deem a financially challenged component of society. The great Nelson Mandela said " Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world." Second, provide economic opportunities. We must build businesses in these communities. The money must stay local. Stop allowing white businesses to strip our community of economic power.
