Texas Greek Picnic at City Hall

On August 7, 2010 the 3rd Annual Texas Greek Picnic took place in downtown Houston, Texas on the front steps of City Hall.
Members of Alpha Phi Alpha, Alpha Kappa Alpha, Delta Sigma Theta, and the notorious Omega Psi Phi  just to name a few, strutted their stuff with the rest of The Divine Nine. The event began at 1pm and lasted until 8pm. This year, marks the first time the event was held at Herman Square. More than 2,000 people gathered on the front lawn to witness the   greeks take center stage to compete in line dances and take part in the festivities and ammenities. Every year the event grows and is continously becoming bigger and better. This year the event was brought to audiences live by Kris Patrick and Parallel Path Entertainment at texasgreekpicnic.com.; brought to you in part by Bud Light and Houston legendary Stubb's Bar-B-Que. Yep, the event was broadcast and streamed live this year. The party did not end there! The official afterparty for the event was held at the House of Dereon Media Center.  The Texas Greek show is a fun event, but the cause and the reason for the event is even better. They have partnered up with Houston Foodbank " to help bring awareness to hunger in the state of Texas,  to create unity amongst individuals belonging to Greek Lettered Organizations from around the country." (via texasgreekpicnic .com ) The founders  Timothy Hudson and Walter Gordy III started the nonprofit organization in the Fall of 2008 and since then the event has grown.  People travel far and wide to check it out. Next year you should too, it's friendly, family-fun, and one of  the largest social gatherings ever!
